DONATE

The Split Second Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to finding advanced treatments for spinal cord injury (SCI). We are committed to funding research to find a cure for SCI and advocating for more progressive therapies in the community.

Headquartered in New Orleans, the Split Second Foundation is comprised of community leaders who believe in progressive treatment for those who have suffered a spinal cord injury. Our goal is to create a community with a heavy focus on regaining independence and confidence.

OUR VISION—

In the near future, we will witness the conversion of revolutionary research into real solutions for paralysis and treatments for spinal cord injuries. Inclusive universal developments will bring about more equitable communities. Activity-based adaptive fitness programs providing a needed community resource, helping maintain the health of those living with disabling ailments or injuries while also promoting functional recovery, transforming hope into achievement.

RESEARCH

Far more Americans than previously estimated are paralyzed to some degree: 5.6 million people, representing 1.9% of the population, or roughly 1 in 50 Americans. More research is needed to help find the cause and cure for spinal damage and paralysis.

FACILITIES

More facilities are needed to help accommodate people living with spinal injuries. People with paralysis need constant muscle stimulation to prevent atrophy and maintain their circulatory system. Currently, there are no  gymnasiums in the Greater New Orleans area that gives people with spinal injuries full access and full independence. Special gymnasiums need to be created that allow users to exercise without expensive trainers or machines that are not built for them.
