Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network (LATAN)
Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network (LATAN) is the federal Assistive Technology ACT program for Louisiana. Working throughout all of Louisiana, LATAN assists residents of all ages with disabilities or functional limitations in gaining independence at home, at work, and at school through the use of assistive technology. LATAN provides AT assessments and seating and positioning assessments upon request for individual families and organizations. Fee-based services are free for service areas. Whether it’s to support a return to work, a transition from school to work or a more accessible community life, LATAN offers the following assessments:

Louisiana Department of Health - Traumatic Head & Spinal Cord Injury Trust Fund Program provides services in a flexible, individualized manner to Louisiana citizens with traumatic head or traumatic spinal cord injuries. The program enables individuals to return to a reasonable level of functioning and independent living in their communities. Call (888) 891-9441 to apply for services. NOLA Special Needs Registry
NOLA Special Needs Registry helps the City know who might need extra help during an emergency. Sign up for the special needs registry if you:
- Use life support systems, like oxygen, a respirator, a ventilator, dialysis, a pacemaker, or are insulin dependent
- Have trouble walking, moving around, or have a prosthesis
- Are blind, deaf, hard of hearing, or have trouble seeing
- Are on dialysis
- Have speech, developmental, or mental health disabilities
- Use service animals
The information you provide will not be available to the public. The information will be shared with local and state agencies for the purpose of emergency response and planning. If you have concerns with how this information is shared, please email healthdepartment@nola.gov or call 311.
Please complete the online application with your personal and medical information. If you need help completing this application please call 311. If you can’t sign up on your own, a family member, caregiver, or friend can register for you. When your application has been reviewed by our team, you will receive a verification letter in the mail. You will be emailed, mailed, or called once a year to verify and update your information. If you do not respond to these updates after three attempts to reach you, your information will be made non-active.
